Lynn Bouvier Kapiskas is a member of the Rhode Island and Massachusetts state bars as well as the Federal Bars for the Districts of Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
Her law practice is concentrated in elder law (including but not limited to probate, estate planning and nursing home planning), as well as landlord/tenant matters for both commercial and residential landlords. As part of this practice, Attorney Kapiskas will assist her clients in developing plans to deal with their eventual declining health and demise. She can assist clients in making the decision in advance as to who will assist them in handling their financial and health care matters through the drafting of powers of attorney and trusts. She will explain the process of being admitted to and determining how to pay for a nursing home while advising clients as to the various ways to shelter their assets legally from the costs of long term care in a nursing home. She will assist clients in the drafting of documents to permit them to avoid probate court during life (powers of attorney) and after death (probate), so as to make the conclusion of their estate planning as private and quick as possible.
In accordance with other practice areas of the firm, she is also experienced in litigation support in both civil and criminal cases, including but not limited to discovery, motion practice and appellate work before both state and federal courts.
Attorney Kapiskas is a cum laude graduate of Providence College and Suffolk University Law School. Ms. Kapiskas has been selected as a Young Careerist by the Woonsocket and Rhode Island Business and Professional Women and has been both “Write Up” and “Speak Up” champion for the Rhode Island Jaycees. She has been involved with mock trial competitions for local middle schools as well as with Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She is currently the chairperson of the Woonsocket Special Education Local Advisory Committee.
